HI,

Would anyone be interested in starting a study group for the SCJP 6 certification? I think I'll need the support such a group would give to keep me motivated/focused.

Thanks
Darren

Hi guys,

I have just started to get ready for this certification and, as Darren said, a study group would be perfect to keep me motivated.

Let me know if you have already created it or how it goes.

Thanks,

Ricardo

I'm interested in joining this study group, but i'm starting now to collecting all the information about the certification.
Next week i will buy also the book (just to know, with one would you like to buy / wich one do you have?).
By the way, just to understand the level, how many years of java coding experience have you got? I started programming Java about two years ago.

Last question: how many hours per week could you spend studying for the certification?

Riccardo, welcome :-)
Book: I have Sun Certified Programmer for Java 6 Study Guide by Kathy Sierra and Bert Bates and i found it to be the best book out there.
The last time i wrote code was five years ago, i changed career due to economy but now i decided to get back to programming.

The challenging part is to find time between work, wife, kids, house, family, etc...
I found out that it's hard to focus when i'm in the house, so i decided to always take my laptop and study outside, coffee shop for example.

My problem is with motivation and making the time to study, i have time but making it is the hard part, especially after a hectic day at work.
That's why if we started a group study, we will stay committed and motivated.
We can do voice chat online, decided on how many pages to read a week then voice chat, questions, tips, etc...

We also have this great forum we can always come here and ask questions.

I've decided on creating a voice chat room in a service called Voxli.com . Its a service where you can text and voice chat in groups. We are going to give it a trial run. Email me regarding their quality of service in case you guys use their service. Send your feedback relating to my SCJP group to: catfish044-5478@yahoo.co.in .

The link to the SCJP chat room for now is: https://voxli.com/catfish

Hello,

Why need a separate study group. JR is the best study forum or group you can get in order to get your certificate.

Dear All,

A study group will only be useful, if the group has a specific deadline for the exam, a combined schedule
which all members will follow and report to each other and discuss their confusions.

As always, if you want to find a study partner, get in touch with me at catfish044-5478@yahoo.co.in. Or you can organize your own study group consisting of people who post in this thread.
