Hi,
If you are familiar with Java a bit, you may start from "your first cup" by Oracle, and proceed to "Java EE 6 Tutorial" again by oracle.

For Java Server Faces, another book that has been well quoted, and I bought it last Thursday, is Core Java Server Faces:

http://www.amazon.com/Core-JavaServer-Faces-David-Geary/dp/0137012896/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1317675351&sr=8-1#reader_0137012896

It's a book from the JSF creators, at Sun Microsystems yet!

I recommend you do a search on Amazon or other online stores of your choice and read the comments about the books you encounter. Pay attention to the ones with the greatest number of positive feedback, that may be a good indication of what's a good acquisition. People who have read through the books will give detailed information about its quality.

Regards from Brazil!

Agree with Marcos. I got the book (Core JavaServer Faces 3rd edition - David Geary, Cay Horstmann) myself about a couple of weeks back. Finding it very simple and easy to follow so far.
