i have always liked green and blue the best. today i decided green is my favorite but blue is a close second. i also like brown. yellow white and black are ok. i don't like red orange and purple, and i wouldn't be caught dead wearing lavender or pink.

A link to the movie which Bear quoted from.

The quote appears around the 3:20 time mark.

I never understood the "what is your favorite color?" question. I mean, does anyone ever ask "What is your favorite note?" Nobody would ever answer that question with "I am fond of A3 (220 HZ), but I really don't like F#4 at (roughly) 370 HZ."

Why does color get such special treatment?

I don't have a favourite note, but I do quite like the key of A-flat major.

liking the key of A-flat major is akin to liking pastels or Monet's color palate during his 'blue' period...which i think is a different thing entirely.

If you had synesthesia then you might well have a favourite note which you got mixed up with your favourite colour. In fact some composers with the condition did associate keys with colours.

When I was little and we had a bag of lollypops, my sister would only eat the red ones. I tried to give her a yellow one, pointing out that she had recently told me that yellow was her favorite color. "Not my favorite FLAVOR!" she objected. I couldn't understand why she would like a color that didn't taste good. Besides, you spend almost as much time looking at a lollipop as licking it.

I have a least favorite note: the tone of my tinnitus. It's like the same one-note song playing all the time!

Agreed. For the longest time, my wife couldn't understand why I hated sleeping when it was totally quiet. Noise, any noise, is better than that one-note song.
