Jdk 7 download

Please I'm about downloading JDK 7 from OTN's site but my OS is built with a 32-bit architecture. Which of them do i select for my (windows 7). I mean is it X86 or X64. Please its urgent.

Try the 64. If do not work, go for the 86! [=

As far as I know, x86 is a synonym for 32-bit.
For example, 64-bit Windows has a directory called Program Files (x86); anything in this directory is run as a 32-bit app.

My first question, answered by the first post! Thank you.

I downloaded the 64, assuming it was less sophisticated than the higher 86, and it didn't work on my 32-bit 2002 Windows XP Professional, service pack 3.

Does anyone know if the x86 will function on this system, with a 2.26 GHz processer and 1GB of RAM?

(Hey, it was "top of the line" in 2002! And I got it for free...)

Sure, Java runs on Windows XP, I used to have one of those boxes. One gig should be enough memory. Just remember that it's a 32-bit machine so the 64-bit JVM isn't the right choice.

If you have a 32-bit operating system, you cannot use the 64-bit version. You need the 32-bit version, which is indicated with "x86" (from the time when Intel's processors were identified as "8086", "80286", "80386" etc., 30 years ago).

The x86 version runs on all Intel and Intel-compatible CPUs, on 32-bit and 64-bit operating systems. The 64-bit version only runs on CPUs that have the 64-bit instructions and only when you have a 64-bit operating system installed.

If you have a 64-bit CPU and operating system, prefer the 64-bit version. But since you have 32-bit Windows XP, you need the 32-bit (x86) version.
