Could you help me know what is the total cost of the the SCEA/OCMJEA certification in India?

I am getting a little confused when I look at the oracle website where they show cost for each exam phase. Has it become so very expensive?

You can check the latest cost on Pearson Vue. But for me for each part the cost was USD 125 that means approximately between Rs 5500 to Rs 7000. I do not know the exact cost for the mandatory training so cannot comment on that. So excluding the mandatory training part the cost for all 3 exams could be around Rs 18000.

God, this has become expensive. Just checked the oracle website and I see that the minimum cost of training is Rs 13888. Hence, total cost is about 30K+. This is really sad to hear that the company is focusing on profit making. This is a real dampener for aspirants, like me.

Hey Praveen,

I agree. I'm switching to Python, don't want anything to do with Oracle after this

Hi Cathal,
Could you please share some information on what Python is? Is it some kind of a new certification framework ?
What I know is that it is a programming language.

Hi Praveen,

Python is a programming language. I'm going to use it instead of Java in protest of the introduction of the mandatory course requirement

You can also explore Scala or Groovy. You just need JVM to run. Scala looks promising for future.

Hi deepak,

I don't want anything to do with Oracle so I won't be exploring any languages which run on a JVM

I did the entire SCEA5 by Feb 2011. It was around $950 + $65 for Sun ePractice and less than $100 for Whizlabs.
At that time there was no mandatory training and my company paid for all the expenses.

I know after Oracle going for mandatory training - the popularity for SCEA5 might come down.
