Hello everyone, I am new to data mining. I am building a program using JDM API and Mysql database. According to Satnam Alag's book: Collective Intelligence in Action and Mark F. Hornick's book: JAVA DATA MINING: stratege, standard and practice, they all say that the API have to connect the data mining engine(DME) at first. I am so confused because I dont know what DME I can use. I have tried to google the DME but I got little information. Please give me some advice. Thank you!

Is DME equals to data mining software? or data mining tool?

I was reading through the details here and it says:

The Data Mining Engine (DME) is the infrastructure that offers a set of data mining services to its JDM clients. The Oracle Database provides the in-database data mining functionality for JDM through the core Oracle Data Mining option.

So you should explore to see if such a functionality is supported by MySQL db. As per my understanding Data Mining engine would support data mining activities like classification, clustering, association.

Thanks for your reply,Mohamed Sanaulla. So is that means the DME will only exist in the database?

Oracle provides in-database support but not sure about others. I havent used this myself.

Looks like you have cross posted here as well, if yes, please BeForthrightWhenCrossPostingToOtherSites
