hi ramamohan,
you should not get hopeless. Job portals will call you. But since you are a fresher i would recommend you to keep an eye on off campus placements and all. also every company has a careers section , you can upload your resume there also. Secondly if you have your friend working in any of the companies probably seniors ask them to refer you if they have any system which i'm sure companies are having. your best bet would be off campus placements. hope it helps. all the best and do post once you get your dream company .

Agreed. A lot of universities has programs where they bring in companies to recruit (generally because of alumni in those companies). If your university offer such events -- definitely take advantage of it. This will likely be better than any job-site as these events are designed for no to little experience candidates.

Also, if your university offer summer internships *definitely* take advantage of those -- these are chances to show your ability to learn, and develop contacts before you graduate.... admittedly, based on your post, this is probably no longer an option regardless.

I was in a similar position like you 12 years ago. Though that that organization will start to call me with my Master's degree. It is imperative to gain skills in job hunting, networking, etc. It is a very competitive market out there and there are thousands of other beginners like you. I have shared some of my experiences at http://java-success.blogspot.com.au/p/career-tips.html. The ones that will be very handy are

1. Getting some hands-on experience on your CV
2. Handy job hunting tips in tough times
