are there any question about calculating hex numbers or octal numbers or binary numbers in exam? I was doing mock exam from Enthuware and I just encountered couple of them.

Hi Janki,
You don't need to know how to convert between numbers and I don't think our question bank contains such questions. If you can please specify the question id, we will investigate and remove such question.
I do remember a couple of questions that are basically about how to write a number in octal or hex how to interpret them and but I don't think they require you to convert any complicated number into another base.

HTH,
Paul.

Hi paul,
here are some questions i ve seen so far
1.com.enthuware.ets.scjp.v6.2.305
2.com.enthuware.ets.scjp.v6.2.305
3.com.enthuware.ets.scjp.v6.2.512 (there is nothing in k&b book about this so little worried about this question)

Could you please let me know that are these type of questions appear in the exam or not?

Hi Janki,
I checked both the questions that you mentioned but none of them require you to convert. The first question tests yous basic understanding of numbers specified in different bases. A multi digit number in octal will always be less than the same number in decimal, which in turn will always be less than the same number in hex. The bit patterns for the three will be different and that is pretty much all that it is driving.

The second questions covers the basics of equality for floats and comparison with NaN. It is not clear from the objectives whether it is covered or not but it is a simple fact based question which is sometimes asked in interviews also and so we have included it.

But again, you don't need to know how to convert a number from one base to another for the exam.

HTH,
Paul.
