I checked both the questions that you mentioned but none of them require you to convert. The first question tests yous basic understanding of numbers specified in different bases. A multi digit number in octal will
always be less than the same number in decimal, which in turn will
always be less than the same number in hex. The bit
patterns for the three will be different and that is pretty much all that it is driving.
The second questions covers the basics of equality for floats and comparison with NaN. It is not clear from the objectives whether it is covered or not but it is a simple fact based question which is sometimes asked in interviews also and so we have included it.
But again, you don't need to know how to convert a number from one base to another for the exam.
