Do we have major changes in Struts 2, when compared with the older Version.

Can you please specify some area which are new in Struts 2 ?

Take a look at this. Do take some time to explore the Struts website. It contains a fair bit of resources that would probably answer most of your questions.

In addition to what we have on the list, Struts 2 integrate well with spring framework,first class support for Ajax and you can use annotations freely in struts 2. And generally speaking now, Struts 2 retains all the power of struts 1 minus its shortcomings.

Few of them are
  • Type conversion using bean utils is not really that nice as OGNL
  • Actions coupled with servlet API, making it difficult to unit test
  • Actions are singleton and not thread safe

    The stuff listed in Chengwei Lee's link are rather explicit on what shortcomings were.
     
    Don't get me started about those stupid light bulbs.
