XML in presentation layer

In a Struts 1.X based application,in presentation layer ,I do not like to use JSP and like to use only HTML and Java Script.Data to the presentation layer should be in XML format,at presentation layer ,i would read the XML content and display it.If this is possible,how to read content from presentation layer(html).Pls explain with pros and cons of this method,with an Example.I have exp in Xsream tool for XML Processing
