Well that all depends on your style of living, doesn't it? These are the things you want to factor in:
1. Lodging - are you renting a room or a whole flat/house?
2. Food - will you eat out most of the time or also cook some of your meals yourself?
3. Utilities/Necessities - how much will it be to pay for light/power,
water, clothes, laundry, medicine, toiletries, etc.
4. Entertainment - will you be going out on the town a lot?
5. Transportation/Travel - will you commute to work and other places or will you buy/use your own transportation - will you ride buses or taxis, etc. How often do you plan to go home to India? How often do you plan to visit other places like Thailand and Singapore and local vacation spots (Penang is a very popular getaway area)
6. Do you have a girlfriend or wife/family?
You can get an idea of how most of these things would cost from various websites based in Malaysia.
It has been over 10 years since I lived and worked in Singapore and I got by as a bachelor and as a newlywed with a young family to support on a monthly pay of less than half of what you mentioned in SGD. Malaysia is generally cheaper than Singapore but I don't know what the going rates are these days. But then again, I lived a relatively frugal existence so I was still able to save up enough to make a comfortable transition to life here in the USA when I came over here.
Good luck.
