WSDL for iPhone

+Pie Number of slices to send: Send
Hi all,
Am referring about wsdl for iphone development. Am seeing lot of articles and ways to use in iPhone development. Many options like SOAP, Adding JSON framework, Using ASIHTTPRequest and MBProgressHUD and so on. I got bit confused which to select and proceed. Can any one suggest me which will be the best way.

That depends on what you're trying to do. WSDL implies SOAP, which is a much less common choice for mobile communication than REST.

Thanks for your reply Ulf, Am going to use it as for normal purpose for webservices. so your choice is REST which is good to develop. Also i heard in some articles like .net based webservices are not supporting many iphone apps. is that true

The whole point of Web services is to be cross-platform compatible, so the choice of implementation technology on the server side is irrelevant to the client.

ya that's the truth ulf. But at point it may vary a "better than the best". am pointing to that

In my opinion. SOAP is dead. Why waste time trying to write a Web Service in SOAP when REST/Json is so much easier. As far as the iPhone, you just make a HTTP request to the server and get the response. You can do whatever you want with the response on the iPhone. So the server side/Microsoft can't not support iPhone.

Anyway, skip WSDL and SOAP they are just a pain in the you know what.

Thank you Mark, Ill go with the REST / JSON as per your guidance.
