Can Dell charger be used in HP laptop with a converter

You have not got my point , I have lot my HP laptop charger and iam available with Dell charger right now , is it possible can i use this charger with converter with HP Laptop .

You don't have your charger. But your laptop still has a battery right? So did you try heating it? I read somewhere, wrapping in Aluminium foil (the food variety) seems to work best.

Antrisksh Verma, Maneesh is just trying to be funny. We make a lot of jokes here in the Meaningless Drivel forum. I feel like I need to speak up, though, because following any of his advice would very likely lead to an explosion or fire, and that would definitely not be funny. So don't.

Bad advice is really only funny if it's impossible to follow it.

As far as your adapters go: it's really hard to say. Some adapters are "smart" and some aren't, and the same goes for batteries. Mixing and matching often won't work very well. I would advise you to either order a new charger designed for your laptop, or at least take what you have to a reputable dealer or repair shop and ask them about it. It's hard for us to say much of anything in such general terms.

Most HP adapters output 18.5V. The wattage may vary (65W or 90W), if your HP laptop is powerful desktop replacement kind, then your adapter was most likely 90W one. But 65W adapter also works (may not charge the battery though).

So you should basically check the output volts that your Dell adapter returns. If it is between 18 to 20Volts, it is ok. It will work on your HP laptop without any damage.

I am assuming your input is same for both the adapters i.e. 120V or 220 (depending on which country you are in.)

Another thing...while the voltage is ok, the real pain is the pin. Every company has to have a pin of unique size! So your Dell pin may not fit into your HP laptop. I am not sure which converter you are talking about but I don't know of any converter that adapts one pin into another. There are generic adapters which have changeable pins, but that seems to be out of question here because you want to make your Dell adapter work. I doubt it will work but give it a try.
