I've noticed over the last week or so a lot of the Pants Down messages. This morning I think I may have noticed a pattern. I can open the main forum page okay, but I can't open the Beginners or Java In General forums. Yet I have no problem getting into the Ranch Office or the new Blogs around the Campfire forum.
Obviously not a definitive test, but it seems like the number of posts in the forum may be affecting whether I get the Pants Down message or not.

Edit: I can open individual threads within those forums (via the My Posts or Recent Topics pages). I just can't open the forum lists themselves. You can add the Programmer Certification (SCJP/OCPJP) and Meaningless Drivel forums to the list of those I can't open.

You're right, we've been having some issues with the server during this week. Sorry about that. We've been able to identify the problem and have been working on it. The past couple of days have been better in that regard. I just had a look at our logs for around the time you reported this issue and it does appear like the server wasn't responsive for some time during that period. We'll continue looking into this. Feel free to report any more pants down messages if you see them consistently.

Thanks for those details. At this point I can't say for sure if there's a pattern in there, but it might help us during our investigation further on.

We were able to narrow down the issue and fix it a couple of weeks back. But I forgot to mention it here and even thank you. It did actually turn out to be a problem which would manifest itself while rendering the forum page listing the threads in that forum. Thank you!

It doesn't appear to be fixed yet. The messages are still very common in the JSP, Servlets, and Beginning Java forums.

I just got several in the last few minutes if you want to check the logs.

We will investigate - the only outage today was the one you noticed: from 11:44:29 through to 11:43:30 (ranch time).
