Java EE, JSP and such in included in that?

So I have been reading up on EE to start creating a few client/server applications. It seems as if JSP is a part of EE, or at least used with EE, while I thought it was just for web page development... IT seems as if EE not only does server side work, but it also works with web pages and anything else really set on the web, AJAX, etc?


I tried asking once before what makes EE different from SE, and got answers like "When you need EE you will know you need EE..." Right...

Anyone else have any extra input? Much appreciated

So? Not sure what point you are trying to get across. Many aspects of EE are relevant for web application development.

Ajax is a client-side, JavaScript technology. Not part of EE.

EE is a large set of Java technologies. You use parts of EE when you need the services that that part provides. Need servlets? Then use servlets. Need JSP? Use JSP. Need something else in EE? Then use it.

1. Sweet, I thought it was a completely separate technology.

2. I originally thought EE was just to connect to servers for just applications, didn't realize it was for browser work as well .

3. I know they are server techs, it's what I said in #2

4. Yeah I looked up Ajax after I asked and it said client side, but what exactly would you use Ajax for then? I thought it was Javascript and XML which are web tools?
