Accessing Acegi cache at runtime

I'm using the daoAuthenticationProvider and a user.properties files to store the user information. What I'm wanting to do is create a My Account page in my web application where users can change their passwords and do other things. Is there an Acegi API that I can use to retrieve/modify/save user information from this user.properties file?
