Hi !

I'm working since 4 years as front-end developer and I would like to work now with EJB but before that, I would like to take the OCPJWCD exam (and after the exam about EJB).

I've already read HFSJ 2nd edition and I'm wondering if it's really necessary to take the exam 1Z0-899 instead of 1Z0-858 ? Because I've received the book (HFSJ) from my company and if I have to take the exam 1Z0-899, I must to ask to my company to order the book of Charles Lyons and I'll have to wait 4 weeks or more to receive it (I'm consultant, I don't work inside the headquarter) and the PDF is not an option, I don't like to read/study on a screen :p. And later I'll not work anymore with the front-end but only with EJBs, so... I think that it doesn't matter if I don't know the extra topics from the exam 1Z0-899.

What do you think about that ?

Angy.

Hi Fabian,

I have a feeling that you have already decided to go for the "old exam".

If you would ask me I would always advice to go for the latest exam. You don't need the book to learn the extra topics: you can just learn directly from the specs and if you do some mock exams you should be ok.

Regards,
Frits

Finally I'll take the latest exam.. :-)

I've already read Head First 2nd edition, now I'm going to read the book of Charles Lyon and I have a license key (from my company) for the mock exams of Enthuware.
I think it's enough to pass the exam.

I'm looking the "new" topics and I don't see anything about the Patterns (Intercepting Filter, Model-View-Controller, Front Controller, Service Locator, Business Delegate, and Transfer Object). No question about that in this exam ?
Are there another topics that are not in the latest exam compared with SCWCD 5?

Thanks !

I'd think the pattern designs in HFSJ 2nd should be enough. That is just my opinion.

Yes but my question is... is Design pattern still a part of the exam ?

Oh, sorry for the misunderstanding. One of the posters, who passed the exam 6, said he had design patterns in the exam 6 that he took.

I forget which post it is, but I did copy the content here: "Some questions were about pure HTTP methods and some about the patterns. "
If you read all those who passed 6 either in Certification Results forum,or Hall of Fame, you'll see it.
