My biggest gripe about the U.S. Government collecting all this data is not that they are doing it, but that they are doing it secretly. If it is such a valuable program, tell the citizens what and why you are doing it. That way, we can decide - by voting in or out our representatives - if we think it is worth it.

I've heard the administration say many times that "this program was authorized by congress", but if we don't know what's going on, how do we know who to elect to stop it?

Google tells us they are doing it and are still in business. I agree with you that it's not necessarily a show stopper.
