Dear all,
I'm getting into new project where the customer require forum in the site, he is pushing for something free and very customizable, I searched and I found some, but PHP based such as Invisionboard, I admired the site too much, but I'm better in Java & JSP and J2EE technology
so I want if anyone knows about any forum that is java based and have good support + free no charge, plz advice

There is no free version of Jive anymore.
Sourceforge has two open source Java forums. One is in alpha and hasn't been updated in a year. The other has yet to release any code and hasn't been updated in months.
The last free open source Jive version was 1.2.4. It should be available somewhere on the internet. Of course it will have no support and it does have some security issues.
