JSF Navigation With Modal Dialogs

I have a JSF 2 application with two pages. The application is invoked by another web application (which is not JSF) via the javascript command window.showModalDialog(). When this modal dialog displays, the content is the JSF application. There is a button on the JSF page which navigates to the second page of the JSF application. I am using faces-config to automate the navigation with a navigation rule. When I click on the button on the first JSF page, a new browser window is opened displaying the content of the second page.

Ideally, I would like to continue using the modal dialog window for the second JSF page. Is there a way I can do this?

you can change the "content" of the same modal on the button click, instead of trying to open a different modal.
