First a big thank you to Rob Harrop for hanging out with us this week, answering questions. Also, thank you to Apress, for donating four copies of Pro Jakarta Velocity: From Professional to Expert, to our winners.

The winners are...
-Brian Sam-Bodden
-Lasse Koskela
-Julia Reynolds
-Ali Pope

Congratulations! Please send me your preferred snail mail address and phone number by sending an email to bookpromotion AT javaranch DOT com with the subject "promotion winner - Pro Jakarta Velocity" and I'll forward your information to the publisher.

Didn't win? No worries. Each new week brings more chances.

This week we're promoting two great books from Prentice Hall PTR.
  • Core Java 2, Volume I - Fundamentals (7th Edition) by Cay Horstmann and Gary Cornell in our Java in General (intermediate) forum
  • and Working Effectively with Legacy Code by Michael Feathers in our OO, Patterns, UML and Refactoring forum

  • See the Book Promotions page for more information on future promotions.

In the words of a famous man... WOOHOO!

That is, thanks to Rob and others -- especially Ali -- for sharing their thoughts about Velocity and its alternatives. Very interesting discussions this week.

Congrats to all Winners!! & thanks Rob for hanging around here and answering all questions. There has'nt been many occasions when I have ended up with some real good knowledge of a tool during a promotion considering the short time frame for which it is conducted.
But this is definitely one! even though I didnt win the book

    Dirk,
As an Apress author I get a lot of their new titles at no cost. So I would like to donate my copy to the ranch.

    Sincerely,
    Brian
