The OCAJP7 certification study guide by Mala Gupta also mentions a passing score of 77%. The official Oracle page clearly mentions a passing score of 63%. So I would say: yes, it's lowered (in my opinion not a good evolution).

Oracle has a disclaimer somewhere that they can raise or lower the score based on the difficultly. I guess they decided it was more difficult than expected?

Interesting 77% to 63% is a big drop. This probably means the old version (before 2014) the exam was really really easy or now it's really really hard.

Man, I hope they didn't make it too difficult.

I'm averaging 65-70% on Enthuware. I only have one "Last day test" left to go through.

Hello OCA's and fellow members,

I've want to give my OCA Java SE 7 Programmer I exam. Today morning I saw that passing score was lowered from 77% to 63%.

My doubt is that from now onwards, whether OCA exam going to be much more tough than previous exams when passing score used to be 77%?

I took the exam a few hours ago.

I used Enthuware to practise for this exam. I might be imagining things but I felt that there was not any 'real brainer' questions nor many 'very easy' questions. When I used Enthuware there were some easy questions which took me 10 seconds to answer and I was confident with that answer - there was not too many questions of those type. Maybe I was just stressed.

My last 2 mock results were 64% and 67%. I passed with 78% (pass mark was 63%).
