Because of the popularity of functional languages, there has been pressure to add λs to Java for at least 7 years. When you start using λs instead of anonymous instances of functional interfaces, you learn how much better it is.

As you can see in the link provided in Jaikiran's reply there are numerous new features. Now you need to figure out what interest you the most and dig into it!

Having used groovy they are a great feature indeed but I feel that syntax is confusing initially and will take some time for developers to write good lambada code. too many ->
