It is spelt lambda, and is too big to explain in a thread. Try the Java Tutorials, JavaWorld, Java TechNet and Wikipedia.

Back to the future:

I used Spring 4 and STS IDE that support JDK 8.

See Code 1 (Interface). I re-write the Code 2 using lambda. See Code 3.

I try to remove ResultSet from below code to have the compile infer, but tool complain: (why?)

return jdbcTemplate.query(sql, (rs) ->
