I am preparing for the EJB Certification and I am working my way through the some of books and came across the @MappedSuperclass annotation. I understand that this can be used to allow Entities to inherit from non entity classes, I also read that this is not nescessarly required. Since, the @MappedSuperclass is not required for non-entity parent classes (i.e. the base class of an Entity) when would you need to add the @MappedSuperclass

Thanks

I hope the explanation on this link will help you. This is one of the sites that I'm visiting since I've started my preparation for JPA Certification last month.
