Hi,

What are recommended approaches to sending push notifications in a Spring web application?

Spring doesn't have much directly addressing push notifications. There is a project I wrote a couple of years ago to integrate Spring with UrbanAirship (https://github.com/spring-projects/spring-mobile-urbanairship), but it hasn't been released or really maintained since then. (It was created for an internal customer who, after its completion, decided they didn't need it.)

I could point you to a CloudFoundry service that offers push notification capabilities, but I do not believe it's ready just yet.
