Have you ever been as stupid as me?

This morning I woke up. I had a short sleep, since I had to do a few things in the evening the night before. So at a quarter to six, I am ready to hop on my bicycle and go for 40km, 25 miles…I just remember my light is broken. I remember I have an extra light you can put on your coat. I am looking for the light for a quarter of an hour. I am late already. I give up. I arrive at the office, I take off my coat. Yeah right, you have guessed, the light was on my coat. Apparently I already put it on my coat before I left, and yes, after consideration, I remember doing that this morning, but then forgetting about it ten minutes later… To apologize I can say, going for 80 kilometres a day for an old man like me, is quite an effort for the environment and I was a bit tired and sleepy this morning.

Am I getting senile at 49? Have ever done something goofy like this yourself?

I can't keep up with car keys or my cellphone. The last time I lost my phone, I searched for two days before giving up and ordering a replacement. Two days after the replacement arrived, I found the old phone. Now I've lost it again, and I searched for 3 days and can't find either one, so I ordered yet another phone. This time I ordered a case that my belt can thread through instead of clipping on.

I'm only 53. By the time I'm 60 I won't be able to locate my own butt with both hands.

Kevin, why don't you just call your number (or let someone else call your number) and see if you can hear your phone?

About a month ago, I was getting ready for work, which means I'm also getting my two boys ready for school. I get them in the car after the typical morning rushing to get fed and packed and as I'm backing out of the garage, I notice that with all the commotion, I've forgotten my cell phone (it beeps when it hooks up to the bluetooth in the car) and my wallet. I shift the car into gear, tell the boys I'll be right back and go back in the house. I notice my lunch is still sitting on the counter where I had apparently forgotten it as well, so I grab it, run out to the car and realize that I'd still left my wallet and phone sitting on that same counter. Back into the house again. So as I sit back in my car I notice that the car is not in "park", it is in "drive". My driveway has a slight incline so the car had been sitting in place, the idle holding it from rolling into the street and the incline holding it from driving through the garage. I don't know why I didn't call it a day at that point and go back to bed...

Been there, done that. I keep my work phone on vibrate since it receives emails at all hours of the day and night. I misplaced it and it took a day or so to find it.

Hi, reading Jan's original message, and then the replies brought me a great sense of relief, because sometimes when we do things and realize afterwards how stupid it was, you think you're the only one it happens to. How about this for stupidity (or just plain old forgetfulness)...I spent the better part of an hour the other day looking for my glasses, until it dawned on me only a few minutes before this I had folded them and tucked them in the top of the shirt I had on. I am 50 years old, I am HOPING it is not an early sign of senility!

I've got an app that, when it receives a particular text message, switches the volume to maximum and rings. Unfortunately I can never remember what the code word is...

For Android devices, you can use https://www.google.com/android/devicemanager (also to lock or wipe the device if necessary). I'm sure iOS has something similar.

Tried that. It was still on silent mode from when I was out hunting. I need one with a GPS app that lets me locate the phone from a computer. I wonder if there's an app for that?

[Edit] Ah, I see there is app for that. I'll do that. I'm assuming my Android phone is lost for good this time, but I ordered an iPhone so that's the first app I'll install.

No, you will be able to find the phone, but you will lose the computer.

That wouldn't surprise me a bit.

I climbed up on rooftop to clean gutters after autumn. The ladder was bit short but climbing up was okay.
Getting down was bit difficult. After trying few times I decided to jump down on trampoline besides our alfrensco.
Sheer stupidity was I didnt think of the angle I was going to jump down. Fortunately I landed on thick lawn grass and only hurt a little bit.

You must have a lower roof than I have. If I tried that I would have a twenty foot drop onto hard slabs and would spend three months with both legs wrapped in plaster of Paris.

We get enough of these kinds of confessions on stupid things we've done, and we could write a book that I am sure would be a best-seller!

Blood pressure normal? What do I change to get "magnificent"? Maybe this tiny ad?
