I made the model java file and tried to compile it from the appropriate directory using the command

javac -d classes src/com/example/model/BeerExpert.java (from the myprojects/beerv1 directory)

but it is not compiling with the error

Note: src\com\example\model\BeerExpert.java uses unchecked or unsafe operations.

Note: Recompile with -Xlint:unchecked for details.

But I copied down the exact model file program as has been written in the book "Head First Servlets and JSP", chapter 3
What shall I do?

That's not an error, it's a warning. If that's the only message displayed then the compilation actually completed successfully and the class file was created.
