One is product specific and one is generic. I have both certification (SCEA Part 1 working on Part 2) WLS developer certification, I can tell you both of them will help in increasing your knowledge and both test are very well designed. They will force you to study many things which you may not otherwise.
Objective for both of them is different one is path to be an certified architect and one is a certified specilist in specific product. I will not able to give input from future market demand point of view as my understanding is recruiter hardly understand the value of certifications.
Ultimately it is what you know which matters?

Thanx for the detailed reply!
Actually I had collected all the stuff for SCEA and then found out about the weblogic certification. The latter is more uptodate, ejb2.0, message driven beans etc and the other also containing patterns and more generic architect viewpoint.
If I go for both then what should be the order in your opinion.
Also how did u prepare for the weblogic certification? in how much time etc. please give some valuable tips.
Thanx again!

In fact you will find there are a lot of common topics between SCEA part 1 and any of the J2EE vendor certifications.

If i go from vendor specific weblogic to generic SCEA, I guess it would be easier.
Thanx again

For BEA certification you don't need any guides/books what you should know very well is Objectives of exams, very good understanding of EJB plus read the documents (guides) from Bea User Guide and Administration Guide etc.. You should have good knowledge of WLS server it's configuration and what services it provides and how they differ. You should also know what it supports and what it don't like JMS1.01b or JMS1.0.
Hope it helps,

I did WLs certification one year back and SCEA recently, either way is fine. I liked both the exams as they are designed very well. If you know J2EE (primarily Server and Services, EJB) both exams will be easy for you.
Hope it helps,

One more thing i need to know.
Should I go for weblogic 5.1? or the latest 6.0? I still see people giving the older version and wanted to know that with the new 6.0 if 5.1 was still good enough. As a working mother(I hardly have time ), it seems easier to give 5.1 certification.
Please comment on that!
