For preparation I used (like most people on this forum?) the books for 1Z0-803 from Mala Gupta and Sierra & Bates.
After that I used Enthuware as well. My result was 95%
I took a long time to prepare: from January until July 21, while working a full time not Java related job.
After I finished working through the 2 books, I started doing the mock exams. Here are the results:
M. Guptas mock exam (7 May): 81% --> Great result, I thought, I was feeling that I was basically prepared enough.
Sierra&Bates OCA mock exam 1 (12 May): 72% --> oops!
Sierra&Bates OCA mock exam 2 (20 May): 68% --> even more oops!
My ambition was a 90%+ result in the real exam, or at least 80%+. I needed to practice some more ...
Next up Enthuware OCA mock exams:
Starter test (28 May): 84%
Test 1 (2 June): 80%
Test 2 (10 June): 83%
Test 3 (18 June): 90%
Test 4 (26 June): 86%
Test 5 (3 July): 86%
Test 6 (17 July): 83%
Final Day test (20 July): 87%
I evaluated all test thoroughly and did them again several weeks later. (Except the final day test and test 6)
Wrote many small programs as well.
Still it looks like I lucked out a little bit on the real exam with 95%
Congratulations for your great result! I'm going to also take the exam next week. How was the exam compared to Enthuware? Was it easier? The same? Harder? Did you finish going through all the questions quicker than when doing Enthuware mock exams?
I am asking because I am also going to take the exam next week and practicing with Enthuware is going really really good so far.
