Terro is very effective if you're not into making your own concoctions, but borax in syrup, as Campbell said, is really all you need. For areas where you don't want poison, corn starch is supposed to work. I've had mixed results with that though.

I don't think poison and coffee are necessarily a great idea either.
Anyway, they seem to confine themselves to the powdered milk and sugar compartments, and I take neither.

I have an ant problem too, in my computer. And I have to go in to the ants nest, which is called "build.xml", to find out exactly what the ants are doing when they build my source code.
