So I have begun to make Maven-based Web MVC project with Eclipse (it comes with the package of installing it). So in this case, do I have to set up Maven for my desktop first via command prompt or I can just create a Maven Project via Eclipse and I'm good to go?

Kristian,
You don't have to set up Maven at the command line unless you want to run it at the command line. As long as you always run Maven in Eclipse, embedded Maven is fine.

And you can change your mind in the future. If you want to add command line in the future, you can set it up then.
