Hi,

I have got OCA Java SE 7 certification last year. Now I want to proceed for OCP Java SE 8. Can I go for OCP Java SE 8 or I must have to select OCP Java SE 7. I am a bit confused. Please let me know.

Thanks,

There is no such prerequisite for OCP. You can directly appear for OCP Java SE 8

You can take the OCP Java SE 8 exam but you won't get the certification for SE 8 unless you clear the OCA 8 exam. Another option is to take the OCP Java SE 7 exam and then go for OCP Java SE 8 Upgrade exam 1z0-810.

Always check the source

Thanks. Yes that is the way. At first need to complete OCP 7 and then can upgrade that to OCP 8. But from OCA 7 to OCP 8 is not possible. @Salil Wadnerkar

To achieve OCP Java 8 you need to take 2 exams in either case:
  • Take OCA Java 8 + OCP Java 8 exam

  • or

  • Take OCP Java 7 + Upgrade From Java 7 to Java 8 exam (1Z0-810)
