Cannot create sequence in MySQL

Hi, in chapter 3 of Pro JPA 2, there is an example called sequenceIdGeneration:


In the book, it uses SQL statement to create a sequence in Derby DB,


But in MySQL , I cannot create sequence. It got an error.
It seems to me that we can only use auto_increment when we create a table.
