Role Purpose:

The Innovation Lead will be responsible for building and executing on Innovation opportunities across Vodafone Technology IT.

As Innovation Lead, you will create and manage internal innovation projects, leading the development and presentation of new ideas, working closely with other IT Teams to cultivate an innovation mindset across the organisation.

The Innovation Lead will be responsible for :

Leading and defining an Innovation Strategy for Vodafone IT – this will include selecting challenges, generating ideas and concepts, prototyping a solution, validation of said solution and driving delivery of innovation solutions

Identifying opportunities to leverage and integrate new technologies and business models into existing processes and services

Translating complex design concepts to showcase business benefits of new technologies to a variety of audiences

Creating and managing an innovation pipeline of opportunities and agreeing with the Head of IT which ones should be prioritised and pursued.

Producing Proof of Concepts to highlight opportunities to positively influence IT or Business Outcomes

Development of Innovation Roadmap in line with the Strategic Architecture and Business Plans

Engaging with our technology and business users and proposing solutions to address specific challenges

Anticipating business user needs and proactively developing and proposing solutions to address them.

The Innovation Lead will need to :

Liaise constantly with development teams to ensure architectural compliance and/or allowable compromise with existing Architecture standards and Roadmap

Proactively manage technology partners and vendors to evaluate new and emerging technologies

Ensure adequate review of vendor proposals on proof of concepts and project proposals to ensure compliance with Architecture standards

The Innovation Lead will :

Lead, research and collate the best innovation methods and foster a culture of innovation across the IT Team

Have exposure to Design Thinking, Agile, Business Model Innovation amongst others

Drive an Innovation agenda and build momentum by producing an Innovation schedule of events  to energise the IT teams behind the Innovation agenda.

The Innovation Lead will have :

Superior communication (written/verbal), presentation, and facilitation skills

High energy, detail oriented and creative individual

Proven track record of delivering innovation solutions which have improved IT and Business Outcomes

Forward thinking and strong analytic and strategic skills

Key accountabilities for this role are:  

   Responsible for definition and documentation of the Innovation roadmap , ensuring that it meets business requirements and performance goals and that the technical direction is consistent with the IT Strategy
   To define and document an Innovation implementation plan to support the Innovation Roadmap ensuring input from vendors, other architectural domains and key IT and Business stakeholders
   Working closely with Senior Stakeholders in all Business and Technology units to understand strategies and capability requirements, to ensure the Innovation roadmap is aligned.
   Aligning all designs and innovation initiatives with the need for delivering Excellent Customer Experience
   Deliver Proof of Concepts and Technical Design documents, liaising with internal teams and external vendors where appropriate
   Support IT leadership team in finding solutions to address specific IT outcome challenges
   Responsible for fostering a culture of innovation across all IT Teams, hosting workshops, advising on innovation techniques, driving the Innovation agenda
   Deliver Proof of Concepts and Technical Design documents
   Support IT leadership team in finding solutions to address specific IT outcome challenges
   Engaging with our technology and business users and proposing solutions to address specific challenges
   Build a good working relationship with all areas within IT – Demand, Delivery, Operations and our primary Application development partners

The successful person will ideally have some or all of the following Skills & Attributes:

   Financial awareness with regard to project deliverables
   Financial impacts of design decisions
   Project Teams
   Alignment with Architecture Team on Design principles and guidelines.
   Innovation Training schedule
   Progress Reports
   Innovation Roadmap and Innovation Agenda
   Innovation Implementation Plan
   Prototypes and Proof of Concepts
   Design Documents
   Bachelor's degree in a Technical Discipline
   7+ years working as an Innovation or Design Lead or Technical Architect
   Deep passion, interest and experience in applying and devising innovation methods and tools.
   Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues, clients, and key stakeholders.
   Creative problem-solver with the ability to work with a blank slate and inspire others.
   Willing to be flexible and open to trying new and innovative approaches and solutions

The following experience is also desirable

   Relevant experience in a telecoms company.
