Hi Mala,

- Are the changes a lot between the new book "OCA Java SE 8 Programmer I Certification Guide" and the previous one "OCA Java SE 7 Programmer I Certification Guide" ?

- if someone has already the previous book "OCA Java SE 7 Programmer I Certification Guide" and already started reading from it , can rely on it with "enthuware" mock exam for preparing for "OCAJP 8" exam ?

Thanks.

Hi Ahmed -

The newer book version (OCA Java SE 8) covers exam objectives that have been added or modified in the 1Z0-808 exam. It covers introduction to functional style programming in Java with lambdas, coverage of Date/ Time API (new in Java 8), wrapper classes and language changes to interfaces (default and static methods).

If someone wants to prepare for the 1Z0-808 exam using the previous version of my book, he/ she must refer to other resources to cover the preceding mentioned topics. Though 'enthuware' offer very good mock exams, starting exam preparation with sample exam questions isn't a preferable approach.

You can compare learning to program or learning a programming concept with learning how to drive, and your exam with your driving test. If you focus on a lot of 'if and 'but' during your learning phase (as common with the sample exam questions), you won't be able to focus on how to write your code.

The essence of earning your certification is that you know your Java inside out, so that it helps you to write better code at work.

With much respect,
Mala
