Yesterday I passed my OCA exam with 78%. Not very happy with the 78% as I found the real exam to be slightly easier than Enthuware mock exams and I felt that I was in control of pretty much all the questions.

I found the the real test suit a lot better. It had nice colour scheme and it somehow made the reading of code a bit easier.

One big difference I saw in the real exam was that there were 80 questions (instead of 70) and an increased time of 2h 30m. Not sure if this has changed recently or what?

For revision I did following
  • Book = K & B  Java SE 7 Programmer I - II Study Guide
  • Watched some of the YouTube videos of Durga software solutions on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/user/durgasoftware
  • Random tutorials on specific topics (e.g. Garbage collection)
  • and of course lot of help from forum posts on Coderanch
  • Made plenty of notes while going through each chapter and made some flash card too which I looked at before attempting each mock exam.

  • Enthuware Mock simulator
Test 1 - 56% (I made many simple mistakes, so  I made sure I took a note of all the mistakes this before attempting to to do second mock test. I also revisited my weakest topics to improve my overall score in the next test)
    Test 2 - 67%
    Test 3 - 76%
    Test 4 - 66%
    Test 5 - 76%
    Test 6 - 79%
    Final Day - 71%

After completing each mock exam, I went through each question (even the right once) and made sure I understood where I was going wrong and make a note on that.

On final day, I went through most of the mock exams again and quickly had a look at all the questions (especially the ones I got wrong).

Next target is to pass OCPJP after a short break.

    Hi Sahil Alaracu,
Heartily Congratulations to you. It's a  great achievement   .  Don't think about percentage. You don't get Percentage on Certificate . Knowledge is important.

You are right Narayana, primary objective was to pass the exam. Percentage should not matter.
