Difficulty in converting java project to Maven

I am trying to covert java project to maven in Eclipse but somehow it is just not working. It gives all sorts of errors. I googled all those errors and still nothing worked.
I even created a simple demo java project and tried to covert that project to maven by right clicking and convert to maven. That also does not work. Tried it on different machines too. So far no luck.
Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Welcome to the Ranch.

The error message says it cannot access the Maven repository at Apache (connection timed out).

Are you behind a company firewall? If yes, then you probably need to set your proxy settings in Eclipse so that it can access the website through the firewall. I can't tell you exactly how to do that, because I don't use Eclipse; but you can search on the web to find out how to do that.
