Hi everyone

I really need help, advice, guidance. I am really struggling with OCA practice exam questions.

I have used various resources to learn java as well as cover the OCA exam objectives, but yet when I revise over practice exam questions like the sample 27 questions from enthuware I am thrown off.

Is the questions really that hard for the OCA exam and I just don't have enough knowledge of the subject or am i missing something and what can I do to bridge the gap.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated........

Practise, Practise and again practise.

I recommended to write the pieces of code to understand the language syntax.

The questions are tricky, but in similar ways. Try writing down why you get each one wrong. This will show what facts you need to learn, what you need look for/practice.

For example, why doesn't this compile?

That's a parttern you can watch for on the exam. The second you see this pattern, you know the answer.

Finally block must be the last.

This is a simple question.
But there are another that are too complicated.

I read in many book that the finally block is executed always but it is not true.(if I have System.exit() in the catch block the finally block will be not executed.)

That is true.  In most cases, they are talking "normal" execution. Especially on the OCA!

It is about Java book in general, not Java certifications.

In the book OCA/OCP Java® SE 7Programmer I & II Study Guide is described this aspect.

I don't know if at un interview can you get this question.

But questions about collections, overloading , overriding  methods I got at interview.

i passed my OCA exam on jan 6,2017 with 97% and on feb 24,2017 passed OCP with 100%... I studied java for 4 months continues.. I would like to share my experience.. Most of the exam questions are tricky i would recommend you the books i referred the OCA/OCP java se7 Programmer study Guide by Kathy Sierra and Bert Bates but unforfunately this book doesnt cover all the new topics included in java 8 and the most important is the OCA Java SE 8 Jeanne Boyarsky. I studied chapterwise and solved all the textbook problems . I was very much focused because i wanted to finish it in one shot. Exam questions are mixed some are very simple and some are time consuming and others are hard.. Inheritance and method overloading and overriding ll b very useful even for OCP . Most of the questions were on loops so try to get it rite some of them ll b time consuming so try to develop speed. Had only one question on GC. Dont lose hope or panic. Some topics take time to digest but it over and over.
