How hard is it to publish such a book? You said here that is was self‑published, which I had guessed from reading the Amazon link. How did you get the book edited? Have you got a technical reviewer or similar? Many books I have seen from such self‑publishing seem to be full of spelling errors. How did you correct any spelling errors?

Hi Campbell,

Good question !! I too had this question when I started writing the first edition of Getting started with Spring Framework.

I rely on Microsoft Word for spell check I do at the least two rounds of review of the book before I give it out to technical reviewers. Many a times the review time is almost 40%-50% of the time it took to write the book. I then ask a couple of my friends and contacts for reviewing the book. Once I receive review comments, I evaluate them and incorporate them in the book.

regards,

And how big errata was for instance for "Getting started with Spring Framework"? Did that way work for you to let minimal amount of errors into the book?

Well, looking to reviews on Amazon, doesn't seem that people would point out errors. Meaning Authors used techniques worked

Hi Liutauras,

If people find errors they do report mostly via email or through book reviews at www.amazon.com. We also have a google groups forum dedicated to each book that we self-publish. This ensures that we can answer queries, and get feedback from the readers.
