Would you like to work in a role delivering with new cutting edge technologies delivering support to the Royal Navy? We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Engineer- Software Systems based in Ash Vale.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to work within a team who are creating a shared computing environment to host all IT for submarines, moving away from bespoke pieces of kit which has previously been designed for submarines

The role will also offer you the offer to join an area of the business which has a wealth of growth and can offer career development.

Your main responsibilities as a Senior Engineer- Software Systems will involve:

Reviewing higher level design information to understand the required implementation solution

Developing product requirements

Working effectively within a team of engineers to design, develop, test, document, configure and deliver software solutions

Under guidance of the senior team members developing all products to agreed standards and procedures using the specified tools and maintaining product quality during development

Investigating and resolving product defects as directed

Working to timescales set by the project or engineering manager, and clearly understanding and providing regular feedback of progress and achievement

Communicating effectively and identifying early potential risks, as well as seeking clarification and providing feedback to the engineering manager improvement


Your skills and qualifications must include:

Experience of the software development lifecycle
Configuration of commercial software products to meet specific requirements
Software development knowledge with second generation and scripting languages, e.g. C/C++, C#, Python or Bourne shell


Ideally your skills and qualifications will also include:

Systems engineering knowledge
Software design and test knowledge
