Hi,

How could i trust next book promotions if i know from "a previous experiment" that nothing will be sent if i win after that !!! , are these book promotions serious in sending the copies to winners !!!

I won in the book promotion "OCA Java SE 8 Programmer I Exam Guide (Exams 1Z0-808)" and didn't receive the book yet and when i tried to communicate through the specified Email sometimes they reply and sometimes not, currently i've sent 3 emails and they didn't reply.

Thanks,
Best Regards.

Can you direct me to the thread for the promotion?

Can you give me some more details about how it went down?

That book appears to have been in a promo during the week starting 16th May last and it says that winners' names were sent in on 7/6/17 which is presumably 6th July.

This is the first time i win in book promotions, when i knew that i'm one from the four winners i did the steps as they specified, I provided my addresses one in Egypt(my address) and one in UK(my friend's address) in an Email to bookpromotion@javaranch.com , but the book haven't been sent, i've checked many many times in the two addresses and when i contacted them again through the specified email bookpromotion@javaranch.com , they replied to me literally "I have contacted the publisher to get the shipping details regarding that book -- and for them to work to come to a resolution. Will relate any information received." this reply was in 29 Oct 2017, and from that date they didn't contact me again and even when i sent another 3 Emails asking them if there are any new news from the publisher, they even didn't reply to me.

I have emailed the staff that manage the book promotions.  If you don't receive an excellent response in 48 hours, please reply to this thread again.

Tim said he is gonna sort this all out - it sounds like he is offline-ish until tomorrow.

Hello, yes this weekend is a public holiday in the UK so I have been taking a break away from computer work and have been doing some physical work decorating the house instead. I'm not cut out for physical work at all, I'm knackered! Anyway, back to the matter at hand...

The Book Promo team have received your emails and we have followed up with the publisher on multiple occasions, but we have gotten no response from them. Let me do some digging and see what's gone one here.

Cheers, Tim

What is the publisher's problem in sending the copy of the book ?

Thank you Tim.

I know I have seen a lot of back chatter on this.  A lot of "I am contacting the publisher .... our previous contact has apparently been shot in the head (or fired or quit or whatever - it doesn't matter) which is why they were not responding to our emails ...  so we got in touch with somebody else that says that they will get us a new contact ..."

I kinda feel like this whole thing should have:

A: never had any sort of delay - because the publishing company is a group of professionals

B: when a problem is discovered, the publishing company would have been so upset about this rare oversight that they repaired the problem in two hours and posted to this thread about how sorry they are and all the things they will do to make it right.

So I have a watch set up on this thread, and I thought I would see everything getting sorted really fast.   It just now occurred to me to check up on this thread and I see nothing new.

Is it all resolved?  Is this still open?

The communication disconnect with the publisher certainly is not helping. Luckily I have a couple of other contacts at McGraw-Hill, one of which is currently helping me with a) getting a new contact, and b) getting copies sent out to the promotion winners.

Late last night we got a note from the publisher that a person has been sick AND that the book should be going out today.

I am hopeful that the folks involved in this will realize their boo-boo collection (i see at least two dropped balls here - maybe there) and do things to make it right.

I understand that each of the winners of this book promotion will have heard from the publisher directly by now to arrange having their copy shipped.

I think only moderators can edit that page. In our form letter (from when we receive winner info), we ask for an email when receiving the book. I've seen this now though so no need to email. I'll update the page.
