Hi . I have a few questions :
1.When exam asks about exceptions is it also about errors? Are errors considered exceptions or are only classes that extend Exception class?
2.Which particular methods of String,StringBuilder,ArrayList etc. are required on the exam? I know these classes have much more methods than are mentioned in exam books and simulators,an i'm wondering if i should learn methods like split, join, regionMatches, subSequence etc.
3.Are there many questions with missing brackets ? I cant remember having any on exam simulators .Should i even pay attention to this on real exam?

1) The OCP exam asks about exceptions, but not about how to create/use custom exceptions. You don't have to worry about extending the Exception class.
Any questions about exceptions will be more along the lines of
  • "What exception occurs with the following code?"
  • "What is the result of the following code?"

  • 2) You should learn about split, join and subSequence as there will be some questions about String, StringBuilder and ArrayList on the exam.
As these questions change from day to day, there is chance that you may not be asked any questions about these objects/methods.

    3) Yes, you need to pay attention to brackets.

I suggest that you look at the topics listed here https://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=5001&get_params=p_exam_id:1Z0-808 and possible a study guide or two.
There are many stories regarding resources, including study guides, others have used preparing for this exam here https://coderanch.com/wiki/659980/Ocajp-Wall-Fame.

Sorry, I disagree. There will definitely be questions about those three classes. But they are on a scaled down API. And the OCA only covers the "easier" methods.

spit() uses regular expressions which were removed from the exam some time ago. It's a really useful API so you should learn it for real world coding. But it won't be on the exam.
