This forum was created out of this discussion: https://coderanch.com/t/696523/CodeRanch-codes

In short, this is where we will discuss work related to an open source project that we will soon start.

The main goal of the project (at least for now) is to give Ranch members who are looking for a way to practice and learn software development techniques in a more realistic setting a chance to do just that by contributing to an open source project.

Thank you. I am going to assign OP (other thread’s) few cows for his enthusiasm, and I am confident about this phrase - for an excelent idea. I believe this is how big projects borned in general, from the enthusiasms like that.

I’ll join to other thread about the ideas later today.

I really do appreciate everyone's help and enthusiasm so far! Everyone that puts effort into a project like this increases its effectiveness exponentially. I really look forward to the possibility of this becoming a great addition to the forum.

You are correct Harry in that maybe this could be more predominantly displayed/promoted. There is always the question of where, how and when.
I have stared with a project as noted here https://coderanch.com/t/698891/open-source/September-Project-BlackJack.
Things may still change as work progresses. I know that people may not be too interested in this card game, but it could lead to other card games.
Avenues for this project could include Android, JavaFX, Spring, and web programming. A leader board and network play with multiple people could be possible.

where:I'm not an expert here but a button Ranch Coral  in horizontal line where is the cursor on shot1 in view1 or on shot3 in view2 was not bad IMHO
how: request to site developer?!
when: as soon as possible!

I'm aware and i I see forward

Natural and normal and so should be i.e. continuous evolution

In a distributed system as that is I guess the (tempo variant)  personal interest and other personal and tempo(like time) behaviors doesn't  matter. What really matter regardless of the particular argument at
hand  is in first place the teaching-learning  experience on the persons involved(that's an invaluable asset in my opinion especially if involve real life code) and why not the quality of the (hopefully reusable) code produced. In the list of possible future projects who knows we can also add for example libraries of reusable components  and meanwhile the forum can be considered as a documentation level log for all that awesome learning-teaching process. If all that can contribute to elevate the participants  level collectively IMHO the project would be easy considered a success

And then the flying monkeys attacked. My only defense was this tiny ad:
