How comprehensive is thee accountung app in the book? If it is comprehensive, it would be worth my while getting it even if I have to pay for the book. Does it use anything for persisting data?

It is not comprehensive. This is an example demo. If I wanted to have a comprehensive application for that it would have taken the whole book.
