I don't know what the problem is, but we are on the case. There was something rather similar a few weeks ago, but this appears to be worse.
Some people have managed to sort it out by using &nbsp; or &#x20; (Unicode value for space) or by using tabs for indenting. It seems to occur when there are two consecutive spaces at the start of a line.
