I trying to download eclipse. https://www.eclipse.org/downloads/packages. I Have tried 4 times, each time the installer just hangs, what happen to just a nice simple download zip and unzip. Now even the package is taking almost an hour.

anyone else with the same problems. almost tempted to try intellij, although they have horrific downloads, which was why i kept with eclipse.

Are you still having problems?  I am using Window 10 and Chrome browser with Microsoft's Essentials virus detection.  When I download, the file completes the download but doesn't finish the virus detection.  That's the pause at the end of the download.  Like you, I can't open the file from chrome; it thinks there still is virus protection going on.  I was able to open the file in File Explorer and see the content of the zip file.  I doubt this is an Eclipse problem -- it worked fine on my Linux system.

As I write this, the file has just opened in Chrome.
