Is this book a solid first step on Go for a cs student who think there are a huge future on this language?

It absolutely is! Pardon the lack of humility, but I think Head First Go the best resource available for students. There are other more comprehensive books out there, but they're intended for experienced developers. If you're still learning, Head First Go will help you learn faster.
