Hello I am starting to get offers and today I got an offer from a privately held German biotech company which has its US headquarters in Portland offer me 130k /year plus 15% bonus a year so 150k total plus 2 weeks vacation and 2 weeks sick time (vacation will grow 1 day for ever year I work, not great i know). They match 3.75% 401k. Its a senior position and the company is pretty flat org wise in IT so I'd report to a senior architect who reports to the director. I am awaiting other offers from amazon and vmware and about 5 others as well. I have almost 20 years experience in IT around the cloud as a system engineer, architect, technologist, developer, program/product manager and IT team manager. I'm a manager now so I'd be giving up management to go back to IC but I've been half management, half technical anyway. I work in the bay area now and I make 175K but I have to get a job back in Portland. I spoke about pay with the director and I asked for 130-150 base and he said 150 all in and I thought he meant are you in if we offer 150 so I said that would work since i knew they give 15% bonus but I guess all in means total compensation lol. The job market has been great and I've got at least 50 calls. I'm willing to take a bit less but I am wondering how much I should negotiate with them. The are privately owned so not sure how much they will budge but they defiantly want me there. Wanted to see what you guys thought. thanks, rick
