My name is Fay. I have taken an Intro to Java course at a local community college, and I also completed a 3 month Java bootcamp last year. I've been coding since, but i feel like I've never quite mastered or understood Java the way I'd like to. So, in a quest to get a thorough, detailed understanding of Java, I plan on taking the OCA exam. I feel like I have a solid foundation, but now it's time to dig deeper and really polish my craft. If anyone is interested in going on this journey with me, let's create a study group. Summer OCA prep squad!
It's recommended to spend about 2 weeks per chapter, but I'm modifying the schedule a tad because I think the first few chapters should be easier to get through:
Week of: Material:
May 20 Chapter 1
May 27 & June 3 Chapter 2
June 10 & June 17 Chapter 3
June 24 & July 1 Chapter 4
July 8 & July 15 Chapter 5
July 22 & July 29 Chapter 6
August 5 Review
August 12 Exam
I've tried to prepare for the OCA before, but life hit hard and I didn't keep up with it. Hopefully this time around, and with the help of this community, I can push through!
I think your scheme looks very reasonable. But I advise one extra thing: it is almost a necessity to use one or more of the exam training programs. The one that I used was Enthuware (very good), but there are other programs too. I would plan at least a week for these (but I woud recommend two weeks).
Do have a look at our OCA forum, where you can find many questions (and answers). And we are here to help too!
Succes with the study!
